1992 Camaro Z28 25th Anniversary

This is a mostly original car with 138k miles. Car was equipped from factory with the L98 engine option; this engine was the same 5.7 litre powerplant used in the contemporary Corvette. Only approximately 2500 L98-powered Z28s were built in 1992, the last year of the third-generation Camaro design. This car is red with grey interior. The interior is in remarkable shape for the car’s vintage. The dash shows no cracks and only minor imperfections appear elsewhere. The front seats are 1994 Z28 units which are much more supportive than the originals. The car was equipped with a number of power options including power windows, locks, and mirrors. All function, but with less alacrity than when new. Sound is provided by a 240-watt Sony X-Plod head unit and Pioneer speakers in orignal locations. The engine runs strong with no apparent concerns. It has undergone a recent tune up including cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. In addition, the fuel filter and pressure regulator have just been replaced and a new battery installed. The engine is backed by a 700R4 automatic transmission as equipped originally; however the transmission was rebuilt approximately 20,000 miles ago and at that time was bolstered by Corvette servos and a shift kit. Power is transmitted to the axles by the original Borg Warner posi-traction differential; this has been modified by the installation of a 3:73 gear set. The car has almost new tires on the front and tires with 75% tread in the rear. Brakes and suspension are in good working order. All in all, the car runs and drives great. The body looks great from about 20 feet; closer observation reveals some parking lot dings and dents. Overall I would rate it about a 7 of 10. It is certainly presentable. Other than a crack in the front spoiler (very common on these cars) the ground effects and high-rise spoiler are in good condition. The front cover is especially nice. I drove the car daily until May when I purchased a new Civic due to the many miles I drive for work. In addition, I drove thet car to and from Washington DC a year ago without incident. The ignition switch freaks out often and should be replaced; that aside I would feel confident driving the car almost anywhere. Its fast and fun as is; as a bonus it is somewhat collectable.
